Today the Magazzino 26 in Porto Vecchio saw the opening of “Un Mare di Racconti”, the literary Festival of the Barcolana. A six-day-long journey between land and sea, an invitation to travel made up of books and words, created and directed by the journalist and writer Alessandro Mezzena Lona. The festival, now in its third edition, presents about twenty guests with the contribution of the Fondazione CRTrieste and the Comune di Trieste.
In this setting Mitja Gialuz, Chairman of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, presented “Barcolana, the largest sailing race in the world”, the prestigious edition in English of the celebratory volume of the 50th edition of the regatta which, thanks to the contribution of Generali, was translated and updated, and is published in Europe and the United States by the renowned HarperCollins.
The first day also saw the participation of Cristina Battocletti, Sunday journalist for Sole24 Ore, who retraced in the book Giorgio Strehler, il ragazzo di Trieste the life of the great director through numerous first-hand accounts, memories, letters and documents, including unpublished material. The last to participate was Alberto Garlini, author of “Il sole senza ombra” and Curator of the Pordenonelegge Festival and president of the jury for the Hemingway Prize.
