Barcolana Lake Up will offer a weekend designed for everyone, featuring a programme of both competitive and non-competitive activities aimed at involving people of all ages and abilities.

Saturday 4 October will be dedicated to outdoor sports, with two non-competitive events. First, a cycling excursion of around 30 kilometres, organised in collaboration with Pedale Gemonese, will follow a route suitable for all types of bikes – mountain bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes and e-bikes – and will pass through Trasaghis, Cavazzo, Venzone and Bordano. Bicycles can be rented for €10.00, and children can participate in the event free of charge. The use of a helmet is recommended.

At the same time, the River Tagliamento will host a non-competitive descent by kayak, packraft and rafting dinghies along an 8-kilometre stretch from Pioverno to Ospedaletto di Gemona del Friuli. The activity, organised by Scuola Kayak & Rafting Friuli, will follow a route designed to highlight the symbolic meeting point between the cycle path and the river.

Sunday 5 October will be all about the spectacle between lake and sky. The programme includes a model yacht regatta, promoted by the Italian Model Yachting Association and ASD Nautilago, featuring remote-controlled boats up to two metres in length. A true “miniature Barcolana”, recreating the magic of the regatta with a line start and a two-nautical-mile windward-leeward course that’s sure to captivate spectators.

Meanwhile, the skies above Lake Cavazzo (or Lake of the Three Municipalities) will host the Speed Run paragliding event, curated by Volo Libero Friuli. In this breathtaking competition, pilots will aim to complete a route in the shortest possible time, following “virtual buoys” that correspond to the church towers of Bordano, Interneppo and Alesso di Trasaghis, with the finish line set on the lake. A spectacular event that will also be clearly visible from the ground.

In the afternoon, awards will be presented for all the activities, followed by a celebratory gathering – an opportunity for participants to share their experiences.

Barcolana Lake Up is organised in collaboration with the municipalities of Cavazzo, Bordano and Trasaghis, the associations ASD Nautilago, Pedale Gemonese, Scuola Kayak & Rafting Friuli, Italian Model Yachting Association, Volo Libero Friuli, Sportland, and with the support of PromoTurismo FVG, which – through the “Io sono FVG” brand – accompanies Barcolana throughout the region, supporting initiatives that focus on the relationship between environment, sport and community.
