The course of
Barcolana 57

Here is the course for Barcolana57 presented by Generali, which remains unchanged from the previous edition. The race follows a fixed-vertex quadrilateral in the Gulf of Trieste, covering a total distance of 13 nautical miles.

The start is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Sunday, 12 October 2025, with the starting line positioned between Barcola and Miramare. Competitors will sail at a heading of 210 degrees for 4.3 nautical miles to reach the first mark, followed by a 0.90-mile offset leg at 332 degrees. From Mark 2 to Mark 3, located off the coast of Miramare Castle, the course extends for 4 nautical miles before turning back towards Barcola along the coastline for 2.3 miles.

The final phase of the regatta begins off the Victory Lighthouse, where crews will sail at 160 degrees for 1.5 miles to reach the Old Port Breakwater. The finish line is positioned in front of Piazza Unità, marking the end of the race.

The poster
2025

illycaffè and Barcolana present the poster for the 2025 edition of the regatta, created by Robert Wilson, one of the last works by the stage designer and artist, who passed away on 1 August.

Robert Wilson has depicted the Barcolana with a composition that is both rigorous and theatrical: every element is arranged with scenographic precision, where light plays a central role, and where the passion of art meets the sea through powerful, primary graphic forms. The blue, illuminated by light, becomes sky, sea, and sails, bringing the event back to its essence and masterfully narrating the key elements of the regatta.

To create the poster, Wilson drew inspiration from a line in Lady from the Sea, a collaboration with Susan Sontag, who rewrote Ibsen’s classic for the American director.
