Barcolana Stories: Vento Fresco's 'Rewind' at the Revoltella
Thirty years after the shipwreck in the Atlantic, Barcolana retraces the story of Vento Fresco and its skipper Paolo Rizzi, who remained in the ocean with Andrea Pribaz for a week before being found after his boat sank in a terrible storm. Vento Fresco had won the Barcolana in 1973. The Piccolo journalist Pietro Spirito, together with Paolo Rizzi, retraced the story of the boat and the shipwreck at the Auditorium of the Revoltella Museum, while on Monday the 'Rewind' exhibition, which will remain open until Sunday 8 at the Marco Sofianopulo Auditorium, will be inaugurated, recounting a vivid page in the history of local sailing.
"We had announced," said Barcolana President Mitja Gialuz, "that this year we would focus on the many sea stories that represent our Gulf, and of which Barcolana can act as an amplifier to tell the specificity and value of our sailing. The story of Vento Fresco is one of these, and it is the story of a city that rose up together to oppose the end of the search for two of its sailors in the middle of the Atlantic, a story that still moves many people today, and which speaks volumes about our seafaring solidarity".
