Barcolana Awards: ready for the ceremony

The award ceremony for the 51st edition of Barcolana will take place on Sunday November 24 at 10:00 AM at the Teatro Rossetti. Like every year, it is the closing party of the Barcolana: over 100 winners will take home prizes and it is an occasion to revisit, through video and images, the Barcolana while also setting the stage for the following year. 

“The Barcolana award ceremony – commented the Chairman of the Società Velica di Barcola and Grignano, Mitja Gialuz – is the moment in which we celebrate the winners of the world’s most crowded race together as Triestinians and sailing enthusiasts. This year we will also celebrate the boat that came in last place. This award, in the tradition and in the full spirit of the Barcolana, was born to underscore the commitment of those who participate in the regatta. It highlights the sentiments of the sailors who have fun and who cross the finish line – even at the end of the event - within the time allowed”.

Local authorities and all of the winners from this year’s Barcolana will be present at the award ceremony. The top three overall winners and the top three winners from the cruising class in every category will be celebrated along with the winner of the “Fair Play” award and the “Trofeo dell’Ultimo Arrivato” (the trophy for the last place) - which highlights the true spirit of the event. The award ceremony will include a theatrical performance by Nicolò Giraldi and Jan Sedmak, inspired by “Cinquanta Venti-Barcolana dal Principio” (50 winds – Barcolana from the beginning) and is open to the public and free, subject to availability.
