A day that started so well, with the joy of all the children in Piazza dell'Unità has turned into a painful moment of mourning for Trieste. We have suspended today's events, and we will follow the city mourning announced by the Mayor of Trieste for tomorrow, canceling all the scheduled events. Barcolana stands by the families of the two policemen, the men and women who wear the uniform and our city.

By pure chance I was at the police headquarters in those moments, I saw with my own eyes the prompt reaction of the officers on duty, their courage, their self-sacrifice and their commitment. I don't think I have the right words to express my deep gratitude and my personal closeness in this moment.
The beautiful Trieste, with its energy and its seafaring people, today is deeply touched.
