Barcolana Young: the Optimist event in Trieste is the Unique 2020 stage or the Optimist Italia Kinder Joy of Moving Trophy

The Barcolana Young in Trieste - an event that traditionally opens Barcolana Week - will also be this year's stage of the Italy Kinder Joy of Moving Optimist Trophy.

"For the Trieste regatta, organized by SVBG with the CRTrieste Foundation” - said the youth sports director of SVBG Alessandro Bonifacio – “it is about broadening the scope, this year giving the opportunity to young athletes who have raced sparsely this season, to now find themselves at sea in this great festival of sailing, safely, in an event that has the great task of celebrating our passion for our sport".

The Barcolana Young is scheduled for the first weekend of October, this year Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. There are six races scheduled, all dedicated to amateurs and beginner athletes: the first race is scheduled at 12pm on Saturday, October 3, preceded by the Coach meeting. They will continue to race Sunday, October 4, with the last possible start at 4 p.m. with the award ceremony to follow, with the numerous awards planned in the Bando. As with every year, thanks to the CRTrieste Foundation, and this year also thanks to Kinder, there will be numerous prizes up for grabs at the draw that will be carried out online.

The event will use the Molo IV as a base of operation, and special attention will be placed to avoid gatherings, thanks to the collaboration of local sailing circles. Registrations for the regatta have been open since September 11th on the www.barcolana.it site in the Regatta section.

"Barcolana Young was the first event we confirmed” - said SVBG President Mitja Gialuz – “we always wanted to dedicate the first weekend of October to the youth athletes, and this year this was even more urgent and decisive. The children were very penalized during the lockdown, training and racing very little during the season. Over the summer, all sailing circles have made great efforts to allow their younger athletes to race, and traditionally the Barcolana Young is an event that is also a rite of passage for the little ones, to feel part of a larger celebration. We wanted to maintain this tradition, so that the kids could safely resume all their activities."
