Ettorre: "Prohibitive conditions, the choice to cancel was correct"
Speaking in the studio live at the Barcolana on Rai3, FIV President Francesco Ettorre said: "The prohibitive conditions were widely predicted, and even with variability in the different weather models, I believe that the choice of the organizers, following the weather warning and warnings of the Port Authority, was right. I think having a race with 40-45 knots of wind is not the best for sailors, although of course those who sail must be ready to face all the conditions. Prudence is always the best counselor, and a sense of responsibility. I think we should commend the organization of Barcolana, because the issue of safety, as we know, is central at this time, and here it has been dealt with excellently".
