Opening Day for the Barcolana Sea Summit, the event which tackles matters such as popularizing science and political, economic and social studies dedicated to the sustainability of the sea and of the aquatic ecosystems, organized as part of the Barcolana53 presented by Generali.
To inaugurate this first edition, in addition to the local institutions, the minister for the Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani will give a speech on the relation between the health of the sea and the politics for ecological transition.
The summit will talk about different subjects along new routes of study and popularization: the state of health of the Mediterranean, the role of science diplomacy in sustaining innovative and integrated politics on the safeguarding of the sea, the circular economy in the nautical world, the future of the Port-Cities in the prospect of ecological transition thanks to the economic boost of the Recovery Plan, the key role of Trieste in international relations with Mitteleuropa and with the InCE Countries also on the environmental front and, finally, the centrality of businesses in applying politics of sustainability.
COOP AT THE SEA SUMMIT – over 14 tons of plastic have already been collected thanks to the seabins installed all around Italy. Another 8 and a half tons of virgin plastic not utilized, in adherence to the UE Pledging campaign (in three years). Certification for sustainable and antibiotic-free fishing in addition to being the first campaign for the reduction of plastic bag use, initiated already back in 1986. These are the stages and numbers of Coop’s commitment to our seas, presented on October 7th at 11am by the Coop Italia Managing Director, Maura Latini, and at 4pm by the Quality Director, Renata Pascarelli, and on October 8th by the Marketing and Private Brands Director of Coop Italia, Paolo Bonsignore.
