Barcolana 53 presented by Generali: arrival of Pedote, the oceanic yachtsman

Giancarlo Pedote will also be present at the Barcolana. The great Italian oceanic sailor, protagonist of the last edition of Vendée Globe, the solo race around the world, non-stop and with no assistance, will participate in the largest regatta in the world by presenting at the Barcolana Sea Summit, on Friday October 8th, his sustainability projects and participating, on Sunday October 10th, in the live television coverage of the Barcolana on RaiSport, conducted by Giulio Guazzini.
“Sailing is a wonderful sport, which can be as technical and meticulous, like the one I practise every day, as it can be warm and popular”. I participated in the Barcolana in 2007 and what struck me about this unique regatta was the heterogeneity of sailing, its wholeness: competing against each other are teams composed of close-knit and competitive athletes and teams composed of families, sometimes even of three generations. They sail in complicated conditions due to the large number of boats registered, after an exciting start, during which it is important to be very cautious because the boats are very close to one another and they form a very long line, whose either end it is impossible to see. It’s wonderful, as is the reunion on land for the celebrations of the event which attracts everyone passionate about the sea”.
