Ten years of Barcolana Fun with Siram Veolia

Scheduled for Friday morning, weather conditions permitting, is the Barcolana Fun Siram Veolia, the event that celebrates acrobatic and speed sailing sports, bringing to the Gulf of Trieste spectacular races and performances among the best kite surfers worldwide and the regattas of the Waszp monotype, a hybrid of sailing and windsurf.

The event will see the kite surfers perform along the Molo Audace, in Trieste, with jumps and tricks which will culminate in the “downwind” challenge, between Trieste, Miramare and Marina Julia: a test of endurance with the wind in their sails starting from Piazza dell’Unità, in the heart of Trieste, ready to truly start when the Bora wind gets stronger. Ruggero Tita, the Olympic champion, winner of the historic Gold Medal of the Nacra 17 at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, will take part in the event, performing on Saturday morning, challenging the waves aboard a Moth. This year, furthermore, thanks to Siram Veolia, the Barcolana offers its own “Waszp Academy”, giving the young sailing athletes the chance to try, free of charge and with the support of the technicians, the small Waszp monotype, an unusual vessel that glides on the water: the search for speed and the use of technology to challenge the sea’s limits.
