Barcolana for the community: regatta and celebrations at the Società Triestina della Vela

Today was a special day for the participants of the Barcolana for the Community, which featured two events: the Fuorivento regatta with 46 sailors in 9 different crews who competed in a match race divided into 12 races: the Girasoli Onlus team was the winner. The second event was the Trofeo Calicanto - Mitico Arpege (Calicanto Cup - Mitico Arpege), with a triangular course and 13 integrated crews made up of 19 people with disabilities and 21 professional sailors. The Arpia la Rossa won the Arpege category, while the Giglio Rosso won the Vele Bianche special category. Everyone was deeply satisfied with the event, organised thanks to the hard work of the STV, which has always attached great importance to integrated sailing.

“The Barcolana for the community,” said SVBG president Mitja Gialuz, “is one of the most beautiful events of the Barcolana. The sea means freedom and solidarity. With this event, our aim is to celebrate the love for sea and sailing, which can break down any barrier.”

In terms of Charity, the fundraising campaign organised by the Barcolana and the Donation Network continues successfully. All crews can dedicate their participation in Sunday’s regatta to a cause of their choice by donating funds and promoting their activity.
