Step Impianti - Clean Sport One is the compensated-time winner of the third day of the Barcolana Maxi - Portopiccolo Cup, which was held today on the same course as the regatta taking place on Sunday, 9 October, and which saw Arca Sgr as the first real-time finisher. This ‘prologue’ dedicated to Maxi Yachts has brought to a close the three days of regattas held in compliance with the ORC compensation system, according to which the winner is the Slovenian boat Step Impianti - Clean Sport One (Jadro Koper), followed by Deep Blue (New York Yacht Club) and Ekita (Sailing Club of Barcola and Grignano).
The Barcolana Maxi - Portopiccolo Cup, held in light winds and delayed to 12 p.m. today, has showed the full potential of a regatta that made Portopiccolo the main protagonist and has brought the history of the Maxi boats present at the Barcolana to the fore: “The light wind has meant this race had to be strategic,” said SVBG Sports Director Dean Bassi, “technical choices in terms of sail types and course tactics made the difference once again. It was a great show that saw the protagonists of the competitive regatta duelling in the Gulf, which also served as a reliable test for next Sunday. This evening, we are going to enjoy our time with all the sailors who took part in the event for a third half, because the Barcolana is also about celebrating on the dock, which extends inside the Salone degli Incanti.”
