The E-RoundItaly, the digital version of the RoundItaly, which will be back “in presence” at sea in 2023, has just kicked off. This year’s event is taking place on the Virtual Regatta platform. Participants will sail for 1,130 nautical miles along the coasts of Italy, from Genoa to Trieste.
“Organising this e-regatta, at its third edition this year,” explained Dean Bassi, Offshore Sports Director of the Sailing Club of Barcola and Grignano, “enables us to promote our coasts and our Gulf, which has been digitalised to provide digital sailors with a realistic sailing experience in Trieste. During the first two editions, over 50,000 digital sailors competed in this race, combining their love for the sea and for online gaming. The event allows us to reach out to a very diverse range of people. It is a challenge we are glad to take on and that is proving to be a very popular event with an ever-growing number of participants.”
