FIV Parasailing Academy brings inclusiveness to Trieste
Today was the second day of activities for the Italian Sailing Federation's Para Sailing Academy supported by IBSA, which carried on with activities dedicated to inclusive sailing, involving young people from the area and showing the Academy’s ongoing commitment to inclusion through sailing.
During today's event, participants had the opportunity to talk to experienced federal technicians and try out the boats provided by the Italian Sailing Federation. This initiative was met with great enthusiasm and offered to all participants a unique experience.
President of the Italian Sailing Federation Francesco Ettorreand Federal Councillor Fabio Colella were at the event to support this initiative. “Our academies represent excellence in sailing,” said President of the Italian Sailing Federation Francesco Ettorre. “The Para Sailing Academy organised a wonderful international regatta yesterday, and today at the Barcolanaseized the opportunity to open its doors to those whoare curious or who want to learn more about sailing – just like it does at all its eventsaround Italy. Theyshowed that sailing is a sport for everyone. The Federation sincerely believes in this project – we are at the forefront to bring para sailing back to where it deserves to be. It is absolutely necessary that we take partin these wonderful events that show the inclusion and vitality that revolve around the movement. I would like tothank the Barcolana,whichgave us this opportunity, and to celebrate the mutual intention to do it again in the years to come.”
The Para Sailing Academy supported by IBSA continues to play a key role in opening the doors of sailing to a wider range of participants, proving that sporting spirit and inclusiveness can go hand in hand. “Bringing the Para Sailing Academy to the Barcolana,” said Vice President of IBSA Group Giorgio Pisani, “means opening up new waysfor inclusion.The Barcolana is the biggest regatta in the world, in which everyone can participate, and this further underlines the role of the FIV Para Sailing Academy supported by IBSA. IBSA's project takes on an international dimension at the Barcolana: we are pleased to learn that the FIV Para Sailing regattas have achieved the status of International Races since they had participants coming from more than three nations and because of the central role playedby World Sailing, the International Sailing Federation, which is also committed to a major diversity and inclusion programme.”
