The Barcolana Venice Hospitality Trophy is born: a new combination of the Barcolana Maxi Trophy Portopiccolo and the Venice Hospitality Challenge
The Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, the Yacht Club Portopiccolo and the Yacht Club Venezia present the Barcolana Venice Hospitality Trophy, a perpetual challenge trophy that celebrates the union of two important and popular events dedicated to Maxi Yachts in the waters of the Upper Adriatic: the Barcolana Maxi Trofeo Portopiccolo and the Venice Hospitality Challenge.
former, reserved for yachts over 16 metres long, is distinguished by the combination of sport and glamour in an exceptional setting, while the latter, now in its eleventh edition, merges the world of large Venetian hotels with that of Maxi Yachts in a unique competition.
The trophy will be awarded to the boat that obtains the best combined results in the four races of the two events, using the minimum score system. All boats taking part in at least one race of each event on the calendar will compete for the new trophy. There will be no discards, making the competition even more exciting and uncertain until the end.
The first event on the water will be in Portopiccolo from 9 to 11 October with the Barcolana Maxi Trofeo Portopiccolo, followed the following weekend, Saturday 19 October, by the Venice Hospitality Challenge, which will animate the inner waters of Venice. The prize-giving ceremony of the Barcolana Venice Hospitality Trophy will be held during the prize-giving ceremony of the Venice Hospitality Challenge, celebrating the boat that has best distinguished itself in both competitions, without the need for further entries.
