Almost 400 free parking spaces available in the Coop Alleanza 3.0 area from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 October

Barcolana, Trieste Terminal Passeggeri and porto trieste servizi prepared the area in record time.
Thanks to the joint efforts of Barcolana, Coop Alleanza 3.0, Trieste Terminal Passeggeri, and Porto Trieste Servizi, Trieste will have – from 2 p.m. on Thursday 9 October until midnight on Sunday 12 October – 399 free parking spaces available in the city centre.

We are pleased to announce,” said Mitja Gialuz, President of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, “that Coop Alleanza 3.0 responded positively to our request to temporarily open the area that, in recent months, hosted the Cirque du Soleil, and to use it as a car park during the Barcolana weekend. I would like to thank our long-standing partner, Trieste Terminal Passeggeri, which immediately believed in the project and worked together with Porto Trieste Servizi to make the area suitable for use and thus provide an alternative space to the one normally used by Barcolana along the Rive. This is an important new development – a truly valuable initiative that gives back to citizens spaces right next to the Barcolana Village; a project we have been pursuing for some time, now made possible thanks to the cooperation of many private partners.

The Barcolana car park will open at 2 p.m. on Thursday 9 October and close at midnight on Sunday 12 October. It will offer 399 free, unattended parking spaces, including 8 spaces reserved for people with disabilities, and dedicated road markings and signage provided by Trieste Terminal Passeggeri. Access will be from Largo Santos, with the exit located along the Old Port slip road. Trieste Terminal Passeggeri will also ensure staff are on site to assist users.

The project has been designed in particular to benefit local residents who usually travel to the city centre by car. “Barcolana is a great celebration,” added President Gialuz, “but it is also an event that places significant demands on the city’s logistics. That is why we have worked hard to reach this agreement, offering a concrete solution for those who wish to reach Barcolana by car. The comprehensive transport plan coordinated by the Regional Authority remains our main strategy – with the use of peripheral car parks and the strengthening of the regional mobility system with additional buses and trains – but for those who still choose to come by car, this offers an innovative and practical solution.
