Giovanni Gabassi wins the Honda Jazz Full Hybrid up for grabs at the Barcolana prize competition

At 5:30 p.m. in Piazza Unità, the long-awaited raffle among Barcolana event participants took place: up for grabs was a Honda Jazz Elegance Full Hybrid, which was won by Giovanni Gabassi, owner and helmsman of Lucky Jack.

Gabassi, a member of the Yacht Club Adriaco, is an international officer with the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe). He said:

“Something like this has never happened to me before — it’s extraordinary, truly incredible. When Mitja called me, I couldn’t believe it. Our boat is called Lucky Jack, and indeed, it really lived up to its name this year — not only for winning the Honda, but also because we achieved our best result ever, finishing 257th. Jack comes from my brother’s nickname — he lives in Ferrara, I live in Montenegro — we’re a bit scattered, but every year for the Barcolana we come back to Trieste to race with a crew made up of family and friends from Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reunite and spend time together.”
