Cavana Run Barcolana Edition: 444 runners and €2,500 raised for Fondazione La Fonte Comunità Famiglia Onlus
A total of 444 people took part in the Cavana Run – Barcolana Edition, the non-competitive run organised by Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano in collaboration with Cavana Run Club, which brought Barcolana to the streets of Trieste this evening. Setting off from Piazza Unità at 7.30 pm, the runners covered a route of approximately 5 km along the waterfront towards Sant’Andrea, before gathering in Cavana for the final celebrations.
The evening combined sport and solidarity: entry fees raised €2,500 for Fondazione La Fonte Comunità Famiglia ONLUS in Prosecco, an organisation that provides year-round residential care for young people with level 3 autism.
“This evening is special because we are right in the middle of the most important week of the year in Trieste and because, through running, we have also been able to do something tangible for others,” said Alejandro Metzger of Cavana Run Club. “Everyone who took part helped us achieve an important result: running is a way of doing something good for ourselves and, this time, for others too.”
“Barcolana is for everyone, for the whole community,” said Mitja Gialuz, President of Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano. “This year we launched the slogan Be Open: be open to change, to sport and to doing good for others. Through participation and entry fees, we chose to support an important organisation based in Prosecco that works with autistic people. It is not yet widely known, but it deserves to be. Our thanks go to all the runners for their generosity.”
“Our thanks go to Cavana Run Club and, above all, to everyone who took part, because it is thanks to their contribution that we are able to receive this important donation,” said Aldo Pahor, President of Fondazione La Fonte Comunità Famiglia ONLUS. “Our community provides year-round care for young people with level 3 autism, including non-speaking individuals and those with challenging behaviours. We will use these funds to make life in our community even more comfortable and fulfilling.”
